This full day workshop is designed to focus on the needs of children during their parent’s separation and to consider how parents can best manage the concerns they have to ensure a safe transition for their family. The workshop will involve an interactive case study looking at a family crisis from the point of view of three children of different ages, two short videos, presentations and a group discussion focusing on a pragmatic family situation.

By the end of the course, practitioners will have gained a deeper insight into the needs of children and pragmatic ideas to assist parents. Handouts will be provided focusing on helpful language and questions to use with parents, a reminder of what children say with regard to what they would have liked during their parent’s separation and a paper summarising the research.
