THE CHILD IN PARENTING COORDINATION 

 
Course Summary 
Day 3 of the Parenting Coordination training focuses on the children within the Parenting Coordination process. Children are at the heart of Parenting Coordination and this day focuses on their needs and adjustments and the effect of the divorce on their relationships. 

Who is this course for / Who should attend? 

The course is suitable for all Family Law professionals interested in learning more about children within this process. 
 
This is Day 3 of the 8 day Parenting Coordination training programme. 
 
To complete the training to become a Parenting Coordinator you will need to attend all 8 days. 
 
Please also note that if you wish to become a Parenting Coordinator you will ideally need to have been an accredited mediator for at least 3 years. However applications from qualified mediators with less experience may be considered by the course directors where supported by a CV and appropriate references.

The needs and adjustment of children and the effect of divorce on their relationships with their mother, father, step-families, siblings and others in the family relationship 
Child developmental stages and how they relate to divorce and parenting arrangements, 
The impact of the Parenting Coordination process on the child’s well-being and behaviour, 
The dynamics of child alignments, estrangements and alienation 
When and how to involve children in the Parenting Coordination process 
Direct child consultation in the Parenting Coordination process, by whom and how? 
Other ways of hearing the child’s voice? 
What if the child is being involved inappropriately by the parties? What does this mean and how to respond? 
Indicators of child abuse and/or neglect and the process and duty to report.
